The figures published today by the Department of Health for the Junta clearly show an increment in contagion indicators with hospital cases increasing.
According to the Estadística y Cartografía de Andalucía (IECA), 264 cases have been detected in the last 24 hours resulting in 16 people hospitalised and one death.
These figures set us back to those of August when we were in the midst of the 5th Wave. The big difference, however, is the number of people fully vaccinated which has kept down the ICU occupation and Covid-related deaths.
Even so, hospitals are starting to get nervous because the result of the long bank-holiday is becoming felt and we have the Christmas break before us when there is most population movement and gatherings.
Another indicator is that seven days ago there were 77 municipality in the lists that we provide; this week there are 94; i.e. nearly a score fewer ones with zero cases.
