More on the people who write articles on the Seaside Gazette

Martin Myall: Publisher of the Costa Tropical Gazette and Editor of the online Seaside Gazette, Martin was born in 1957 and moved to Spain in 1981 and has lived here ever since. Martin is a musician, playing with brothers José and Dani Montalvo Martin under a number of band names since 1985.

He is also an English teacher since 1984, having worked in Almuñécar’s IES Al Ándalus (secondary school) and many years of private classes as well as two years working in summer academies in Jaca (Aragón) and Candelario (Castilla-León).

Martin started working for what was then the Coastal Gazette in 1998 as a contributor before taking up the post of Editor in 2003 when it became the Seaside Gazette with Georg Hvizdalek as the Publisher. With Georg’s death in 2008, Martin became the Publisher, joined by Dave Darby as the Editor. As a writer, Martin has had one book published: Up To Bridge Forty (1998).

David Darby: born. 02/12/1960 – London, Served in the Royal Navy from 1977 – 1982, Worked in London for large US oil company for 3 years in the 1980’s, Ran a small communications business in the West Country, UK towards the end of the 1980’s and into the 1990’s.

Hugh MacArthur: Born Dunfermline, Scotland in 1979 and went to school there before moving down to London, worked in various pubs, before moving out to Barcelona and then to Granada where he now lives. Holds a TEFL and works between freelance magazine contributor and giving English classes.

Louise Powell: Louis is a professional photographer and a free-lance writer, being a co-founder and Editor of a community newspaper Honduras, as well as having worked extensively with the Seaside Gazette as a columnist for the Danish Corner. Louise, of Danish-English origin, is also a professional diver (Padi Dive)

Paula Anthony: Paula is a multi-talented American who lives in Nerja in the province of Malaga. She is the Radio Almijara’s Programme Director, in charge of the general running of the radio as well as its day by day schedule. She is an accomplished singer herself, she favours early classical music from French and Spanish Renaissance, but her musical tastes vary from classical to stage shows, film music and smooth jazz. She is also a fully qualified doctor and runs Nerja’s Clínica Sta Cecilia on Calle Hurtado and runs Nerja’s Clínica Sta Cecilia on Calle Hurtado and has published several articles on medical topics from tobacco to fibromyalgia to swine flu to cinnamon.
