A-44 But No A-7

Last month all eyes swivelled to the virtually completed La Herradura-Taramay A-7 autovía – it was all over, bar the shouting, yet the announced inauguration turned out to be for the last bit of the A-44, Granada-Motril autovía.

Work physically began on the Granada-Motril part of the autovía in July 1998, with the commencement of the Alhendín – Dúral section.

Allow me to put you out of your misery, before we go any further: the bigwig from Madrid, José Blanco, announced that the La Herradura-Taramay section of the A-7 Autovía del Mediterraneo wouldn’t be opened until the end of July.

Environmental Information Centre

Juan José Ruiz Joya, the Councillor for La Herradura, has presented a motion at a Town-Hall meeting, proposing that the Department of the Environment at the Junta de Andalucía, set in motion the actions necessary “to set about building an Information Centre in playa de Cantarriján.”

Beach Brolly Rebellion!

You will all remember the great beach brolly rebellion of 2004, when the Mayor, for the first time, banned unattended beach equipment, under threat of being confiscated.

Memorial Cycle Race

The XV Memorial Luis Alberto Barbero MTB 2009 cycle race was held towards the end of May, and I managed to get some photos as the competitors passed along the beach road section.

In a Roundabout Way…

First of all I saw a man arrive in Calle Real, outside my place, and erect his large instrument… he was with a young woman who proceeded to look into his instrument whilst another man stood further up the road firmly gripping his pole. What is going on I thought to myself!
