Salobreña City Council described the Romería del Sur as highly successful, pointing to a balance of tradition, new features, and high attendance.

The biggest turn out was for the Grand Prix, the Romería del Sur, and the traditional procession of the Virgen del Rosario.
But there was also live music provided by popular Spanish acts such as Sergio Contreras and Raya Real in the Plaza de Pablo Iglesia, as well as flamenco dancing on Sunday, a horse riding display, a copla concert and of course, all the decorated floats down on the Paseo Marítimo.
Councillor Nelson Ligero said that it all went smoothly and that there were no major hitches or incidents and that the week passed safely without any major security or logistical issues.
Editorial comment: And how do our readers in Salobrena consider that it went?

The number of floats and stalls were down on previous years and the crowd seemed smaller, however it was a great day out. Hopefully the Town Hall will pay the prizes this year and that will encourage more floats next year.
