Rumours have been floating around Motril that a car boot sale opened in the summer on the Avenida de Los Alamos next to the Mercadona supermarket. There appeared to be some confusion as to who was operating the venue and whether it was in fact the AECC (Asociación Española contra el Cáncer) that had re-opened the car boot sale here in Motril that used to be held in Almuñécar until it was unceremoniously booted out some time ago.
We eventually managed to track down a telephone number that led us to the Asociación Motril Cofrade, which confirmed that it is they who are now running the second-hand market/car boot sale in aid of many different social causes.
Not one person speaks English, so if you are thinking of getting yourself a stall on either the first or third Saturday of each month, find yourself a Spanish-speaking friend and get them to ring 689 187 119 and speak to whoever answers the mobile.
We would give you a name of a contact at the Association but unfortunately they won’t give us a name! It seems there is an organisation committee of some fifteen persons, so it could be anyone’s day to have the mobile. Stalls cost five euros per day and are open between 9 am to 3 pm.
