Barrio San Miguel in Almuñécar will have a new, brown bin for organic waste collection, starting this coming Monday, which will join the selective waste collection bins already available in the area.

The Town Hall has been busy informing residents in that area of town about this new service through a door-to-door campaign, and the handing-out of brochures detailing the collection days and which waste should be deposited, as well as a small bin for the home.
The Councillor for Limpieza, Lucía González, explained what the goal is:
“When that day arrives, residents know how the new bin works and what waste they must deposit in it. We want separating rubbish to be simple and, since organic waste implies adopting a new habit at home, we believe it is important to explain it well and provide all the information from the very beginning.”
The new bin will be for the disposal of food scraps and other organic waste, and will feature collection from Monday to Sunday. In this way, the Barrio San Miguel in Almuñécar will have the different bins necessary to separate the waste usually generated in homes.
Containers, such as plastics, cans, and cartons, will be collected on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays; and paper and cardboard will be collected on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
The selective collection points will be the Explanada de San Miguel, San Pedro, Santa Adela, San Miguel, Calle Clavelicos, Calle Nueva, Callejón del Silencio, Puerta de Vélez, San Joaquín, Calle Orovia, Calle Vélez, Angustias Moderna, Calle Real, Calle María Molina, Arco del Teatro, Plaza de la Rosa and Plaza de la Victoria.
Editorial comment: many of those streets are not strictly in the said barrio, but rather down below, such as Plaza de la Rosa and Plaza de la Victoria.
