The Port of Motril is on the verge of taking a great leap forward with the arrival of the German shipping line OPDR, represented by Mediterranean Erhartd here in Spain.
Until now, the port has not operated container traffic, which is all about to change. The company will now offer a weekly service to Felixstowe, Rotterdam and Hamburg with further connections out of Hamburg to Belgium, Ireland, Denmark, Poland, Finland, Sweden, Norway and Russia and many other destinations.
This will certainly increase the traffic coming through the port and should open up more work opportunities for people in the area. Many local businesses and those as far away as Jaén, Málaga, Almería and Ciudad Real will benefit from this new container shipping service, which will see their products reaching foreign destinations quickly and efficiently.
