Well, there were only about 20 municipalities to delete from the list because they had had zero cases; the rest of the 174 municipalities had at least one.
Almuñécar has had 266 case in the last 14 days giving it a per-100k figure of 1,026, which under the old system would have meant municipal borders closed down all all non-essential businesses closed.
Thankfully, with so many people now with full vaccination coverage, that is not necessary.
Motril has had 427 is the last fortnight giving it a 730.4 contagion figure, whereas Salobreña has had 103 cases giving it a 823.1 figure. Comparing the three you can clearly see how having a bigger population plays in your favour with the per 100,000 system.
As you can see from the top of the list the average for the whole province is 827.9, which is edging up towards the 1,000 figure. In fact the city of Granada itself has a per-100k figure of 1,168.9.
Also over the 1,000 mark are two reasonably large towns in Granada; Ogíjares and Órgiva with the former having had 183 cases and a contagion figure of 1,275.4 and the latter 82 cases with a contagion rate of 1,417.7. Bear in mind that Órgiva has a population of 5,784 compared to Ogíjares with 14,348.
So, cases are climbing and are most likely to continue doing so as in a week’s time we will have the ‘costs’ of Christmas reflected with the percentages.
