Fish Farming Struggles On

Anybody who has visited the beach between La Caleta and the Peñon in Salobreña will have seen the fish-farming pens, washed up and seemingly abandoned there. In fact, one even ended up on Velilla Beach in Almuñécar.

Schoolgirl Injured in La Caleta

The Asociación de vecinos de La Caleta de Salobreña has reported an accident that occurred on the Friday morning (15th February) during a school outing. One of the school children suffered a split skull (head wound) when a stone fell on her.

La Caleta Street Works

Work has begun on Calles Ramblilla A & G, to sort out the water mains and sewage system, as well as sorting out the street surface which is pretty deteriorated in places.

Cambullón Resurfaced

The Salobreña beach road that leads from La Caleta, passing below the castle and ending up at the fairground behind the park, La Fuente, is being resurfaced – at last!

La Caleta Fiestas

This weekend will see the fiestas to celebrate the Patron Saint of Salobreña’s La Caleta, La Virgen del Carmen. The fiestas will kick off at 19.00h on the Friday the 13th, culminating in the evening Mass at 20.00h on the 16th.

La Caleta VPO’s Continued

Neither the buildersn or the development company for the VPO’s (government subsidized housing) in La Caleta, Salobreña, have offered any explanation as to why the housing is not ready for handing over, as promised.

Rural Lane Improvements

The Town Council has approved the project for rural-lane improvements: El Gambullón and La Melcochera with the Plan Encamina2 grant from the Junta de Andalucía. Double Whammy

One moment we are wallowing in the midst of a global crisis, with nothing but gloom on the horizon, and the next – within the same week – we hear that not only is Salobreña’s La Caleta going to have the long-awaited marina, but also that Almuñécar is going to have a 7-star hotel… and that’s not a numerical misprint: seven stars.

La Caleta Not Happy

The neighbourhood association for La Caleta is not happy, thanks to ambiguous declarations made by the Councillor for Urban Planning in response to the accusation raised by the opposition party, IU, over the street work being carried out to bring water from the Gambullón wells to Monte Almendros.
