The Asociación de vecinos de La Caleta de Salobreña has reported an accident that occurred on the Friday morning (15th February) during a school outing. One of the school children suffered a cut to her head when a stone fell on her. The teacher in charge of the group took the girl immediately to the local medical centre.
The association chairwoman, Nuria Soto Almendros, pointed out that they have reported the dangerous state of the pathway that runs under the cliffs, both to the Salobreña Town Hall via Irena Justo, as well as to Costas (Madrid authorities via their provincial office).
This pathway is not the only one in disrepair, says, Sra. Soto Almendros, and that had the Town Hall paid them some heed, this incident would not have occurred.
Finally, she stated that no matter whose area of responsibility that this coastal pathway falls under, it is the responsibility of the Town Hall to chase things up.
Editorial Comment: Regardless of whose responsibility it is to maintain the safety of the pathway, what was a teacher doing with a group of school children on a pathway that was known to be in disrepair?
