This weekend will see the fiestas to celebrate the Patron Saint of Salobreña’s La Caleta, La Virgen del Carmen. The fiestas will kick off at 19.00h on the Friday the 13th, culminating in the evening Mass at 20.00h on the 16th.
Make sure you don’t miss the Sardinada on the beach in front of La Guardia, with the election of the Miss and Mister of the Fiestas at midnight, immediately followed by a knees up until you drop in the municipal caseta.
For those still alive on Saturday the pensioners at the pensioners’ club will be holding a no-holds-barred, to-the-death dominoes championship, although it is rumoured that chainsaws have been banned this year. It’s kiddie time at 19.00h with traditional games, including a foam cannon. There will also be a beach-football championship in the afternoon. The evening will see a local rock band perform, followed by a traditional knees up until everybody has passed out from dancing paso doubles.
Sunday, after the blood and severed limbs are removed from the pensioners’ club, there will be a beer festival. Come the evening, three local rock bands will be performing, as well as a DJ for the younger generation.
A subdued Monday will see the walking wounded making their way to the religious Mass in the evening, as mentioned above.
