A mountain fire broke out on the 6th at Cerro Gordo, just below the parking area of the entrance road for Playa Cantarrijan. Fortunately, the rapid intervention of fire-fighting teams managed to extinguish the flames before they could spread further.

A fire was discovered on the 21st around 14.00h in one of the warehouses on the industrial estate behind the gasoline station. Plenty of black billowing smoke, thanks to plastic containers and palettes catching light, but the fire was contained and put out within a few hours.

A woman was taken to hospital, seriously ill from having inhaled large quantities of smoke from her burning house. Although the fire occurred on the 7th of January, just how the fire broke out was not known at the time of going to print.
