Pyromaniac Targets Cerro Gordo

The Guardia Civil is going all out to track down the culprit behind four deliberate fires on Cerro Gordo; one of the few pine forests left on the Costa del Sol.

Fire Above Cantarrijan

A mountain fire broke out on the 6th at Cerro Gordo, just below the parking area of the entrance road for Playa Cantarrijan. Fortunately, the rapid intervention of fire-fighting teams managed to extinguish the flames before they could spread further.

At Least Two Dead in Helicopter Crash

At least two people are dead following a helicopter crash, this morning, in the area known as La Fuente de la Gitana, which is in the Granada province between Tocón de Quéntar and La Peza. It also appears there are several people injured.

A squatter, who for the past eight years has been living in a home by the Mill in Salobreña, has finally been ousted, thanks to his playing with fire.

A radar installation that is used to monitor seaborne drug trafficking has suffered its second arson attack, this time causing damage valued at a million euro.

Warehouse Fire

A fire was discovered on the 21st around 14.00h in one of the warehouses on the industrial estate behind the gasoline station. Plenty of black billowing smoke, thanks to plastic containers and palettes catching light, but the fire was contained and put out within a few hours.
