A brush fire broke out at 13.30 on Thursday 22nd in the Gelibra area (Los Perez), which is a hamlet/cortijada up above Torrecuevas, almost within the Jete municipal border.

Firemen from the Almunecar fire service managed to catch the fire almost at its outset, limiting the damage to about 4,000 sq/m of almond trees and mountain brush.

As well as the Almunecar fire service, the Guardia Civil, Proteccion Civil, Policia Local, the regional fire fighting service, Infoca, were also present with a helicopter, 4×4 water bowser and four fire fighters.
