A-7 Further Delayed?

Surprisingly, the 2013 budget announced by the Central Government shows that there is no money for the A-7 between Almuñécar/Salobreña. In fact, there is no money set aside until 2014, when it will receive a budget of 118m euros, and then 15m euros in 2015 and finally, 12m euros in 2016.

A7 Gorgoracha-Puntalon Go Ahead

The much-needed stretch of autovia between Gorgoracha and Puntalón was 75% complete when all work ground to a halt; the construction company Isolux Corsan had struck an unexpected strata of rock that would require a lot of extra funding to reroute the construction work.

Not Very Gentlemanly

A male driver threatened a female driver with a pistol over a traffic-related argument. The police, alerted by another driver, chased after and trapped the man.

No Rail Link for Motril

Finally, the powers that be in Brussels have decided that the Europe-wide, railway-freight network will not pass between Almeria and Malaga via the coast, giving Motril Port a rail connection at last. It seems that the Costa Tropical has been put on the back burner yet again.

Funds for The N-340

Anybody that has driven along the N-340 where it passes between La Herradura and the eastern entrance into Motril would be well aware of the state of the main road and grateful that funds have been allotted to make it both smoother and safer.

Sad New Record

Perhaps the classic AC/DC number can best sum up where the A-7 peters out into the N-340… Highway to Hell.

A-44 But No A-7

Last month all eyes swivelled to the virtually completed La Herradura-Taramay A-7 autovía – it was all over, bar the shouting, yet the announced inauguration turned out to be for the last bit of the A-44, Granada-Motril autovía.
