Honed Speed Trap

AND Speed Camera A44:132Popping up to Granada on the A-44? Well, watch out when you pass alongside Armilla before the 132 turn off because there is a ruthless speed camera installed.

An exaggeration? You wish! This lovely artifact is responsible for 70% of all the speed-trap fines in the whole of the province of Granada! The speed limit on that stretch is 100 kph.

Put another way, there were 2,595 speeding fines issued in the province, of which 1,872 were fruit of this tireless little blighter!

The second most ‘successful’ speed trap, but lagging far behind in ‘scalp count’ is the one in Torrenueva, approaching the town from the east on the N-340. The road from the tunnel to the first roundabout is downhill, and the speed trap is at the bottom of the hill – sneaky!

The speed limit there is 80 kph but 287 drivers disputed this…

The speed trap with the least ‘kills’ is the one on the A-44 where it passes through the municipality of Maracena – at kilometre point 123, to be precise. It only knocked up 16 fines during the whole of 2014, so why not pop along and do a wheelie in front of it to cheer it up?
