The Almuñécar branch of the Partido Popular has proposed that the wording on the autovia exit signs on the A-7 for Almuñécar & La Herradura be changed.
The reason being, they claim, is that they have received complaints from tourists who had visited the municipality for the first time and found the exit signs for La Herradura and Almuñécar confusing.
There are also problems, the PP consider, with the A-44 (Granada-Costa Tropical) sign posting.
The A-7 signs for La Herradura and Almuñécar are simply Almuñécar Este and Almuñécar Oeste, which is a bit confusing if you are looking for La Herradura, or simply have no idea if you need the East or West exits.
As for the A-44 heading towards the coast, the PP say that there are no Almuñécar signs on the Lobres-Guadalfeo section, causing some drivers to head east where the A-44 links up with the A-7, ending up in Carchuna.
The PP consider that these confusions have the subconscious affect on new visitors of believing that Almuñécar “is difficult to find,” with the consequential negative repercussion for its tourism.
The solution, the PP consider, would be to request that the signs be changed on the Almeria-bound lane of A-7 from Almuñécar Oeste to La Herradura & Almuñécar, and for the Málaga-bound-lane traffic where it says Almuñécar Este (for the Tarmay exit) to read just Almuñécar.
Likewise, they suggest that at least two road signs on the A-44 before reaching the A-7 junction should include Almuñécar together with the other already existing town name, Salobreña.
What do you think, Folks?
