Wind Turbine Blade Hits Lorry

Before you start wondering, what a lorry was doing driving underneath a wind turbine generator, we should point out that the blade was being transported by road.

The large load was being escorted by the Guardia Civil along the A-44 (GR-14) on its way down to the port and was negotiating one of the last roundabouts when the accident occurred. The police were manning the roundabout, stopping vehicles using it whilst the lorry carrying the blade maneuvered, but somehow another lorry accessed the roundabout.

The result was that the blade literally knocked the load clean off the other lorry.

Fortunately, nobody was hurt and the large-load convoy was able to reach Motril port.
