Thanks to the EU's Erasmus, student-exchange scheme, the village high school, IES Villanueva del Mar, received a visit from kids from Slovakia.
Five pupils (ESO3 level) and five teachers from the Zakladna Skola in Nabrezna stayed from the 7th to the 11th of October, explained the Head Teacher, Luis Javier Contreras.
The common language was English, so it was good practice for the pupils from both the school and for the visitors, it was an opportunity to spend those short days on the Costa Tropical and sample a spot of local culture.
Local teachers were also treated to a typical Slovakian-style breakfast. Also included in the activities was a visit to The Alhambra on Wednesday the 9th and the Granada Science Park. It wasn’t until the next day that they got to visiting Almuñécar with a guide.
On their last day they did a spot of sight seeing much closer to home: El Castillo de La Herradura and learnt about the destruction of a fleet in the bay by a storm.
