The Central Government has announced that they will be extending a grant for over 6-million euros to two hotel projects; one in La Herradura and the other on Playa Granada in Motril.
The majority will go to the development company behind 5-Star Hotel Fuerte in La Herradura, whilst 900.000 euros go to a hotel project on Playa Granada belonging to the hotel-development company, Falstacen.
The Spanish Government, through the Comisión Delegada del Gobierno para Asuntos Económicos (CDGAE) and an order issued by the Ministry of Finance, says that the total amount of subsidies granted is 6,915,945.92 euros and will mobilise a total investment of just over 32.5-million euros.
In Almuñécar, the company Fuerte en La Herradura, S.L. will receive 6,043,962 euros, which will lead to the creation of 90 jobs in the hotel.
Meanwhile, the Falstacen, S.L, over in Motril, will receive a grant of 871,983 euros which will help generate nine new job positions.
The provincial representative for the Central Government, José Antonio Montilla, said that these grants “represent significant support for productive investment in the province and reflect the Government of Spain’s commitment to economic development and job creation in Granada.”
Editorial comment: he also said that the Seaside Gazette would get bugger all and to hurry up and pay its taxes. Just kidding!

More hotels for more tourists. Maybe a grant will go to the ones previously planned near The Penon ?? The eco system will cope. I’m sure the established infrastructures that seem not to be able to cope with the summer influxes.Will struggle on. I guess an update to all sewerage systems is much needed. But that would involve doing the works in the low seasons. Plus again, I guess less money in the piggy banks. Never mind. The Med will cope as it always has. Just don’t swallow the water .
