The Guardia Civil moved in on a private club in Almuñécar dedicated to smoking hashish, which is not illegal, however allegedly using the premises to sell drugs is.
Police operation HEMP25 resulted in the arrest of a 42-year-old man, accused of an offence against public health for drug trafficking.

The investigation and raid were carried out by officers belonging to the ROCA Team of the based in Motril. The investigation began when the existence of illicit activities in an establishment operating under the guise of a private club intended for cannabis consumption came to their attention.
After gathering evidence of illegal activity, they obtained a search warrant from the judge of the premises.
Officers confiscated a significant amount of narcotic substances and material related to their distribution: 2,134 grams of marijuana buds, 8,636 grams of shredded marijuana, 1,018 grams of hashish, 1,240 grams of hashish oil, 232 grams of hashish pellets, 1,750 grams of shredded tobacco, and 402 grams of marijuana seeds.
Editorial comment: completely legalise hash and get it over with, which will save some time for the police to go after, instead, dangerous crimes.

Thank you Darren for your input because the article was a bit ambiguous, so I do appreciate you pointing this all out. 😉
I was just trying to clarify a bit because your article stated that “cannabis is legal” where it’s all a bit more nuanced than that. To stop tourists reading your article and sparking up in a cafe, for example.
Here’s what wikipedia has to say about the current situation (although there is some variety in the rules in different regions, apparently):
“The use of cannabis products is decriminalized for personal cultivation and use, and other purposes other than sale or trade.[9][10] It’s illegal for trade or commercial purposes. Using the legal grey areas in Spanish legislation, cannabis clubs are a popular way for enthusiasts to obtain and use cannabis as a technically legal private collective. In private places, consumption and possession of reasonable amounts (up to 100 grams (3.5 oz)) is legal.”
“Sale and importation of any quantity of cannabis is a criminal offence, punishable by jail time. The purchase, possession and consumption of cannabis in a public place constitutes a civil infraction punishable by a fine and confiscation of the product. Consumption and cultivation by adults in a private space is legal, the latter due to a legal vacuum and provided that it is shown to be for one’s own consumption.[12] Cannabis plants that are located somewhere visible from the street/public place (i.e. from balconies) are considered a serious administrative offense, which leads to a fine from 601 to €30,000.”
It used to be completely illegal but if for whatever reason you or your house are searched and hash is found, as long as it’s not a wheelbarrow full you can say it’s for your own person use at home. This guy had a hash-smoking private club.
The article states hash isn’t illegal; however last time I looked, smoking it in public IS illegal, to the tune of a 300 euro fine. So you can’t smoke it in a cafe terrace (because that makes them liable; which would be unfair if nothing else). You’ll **probably** get away with it if you find a quiet corner; but if somebody complains, it could be expensive.
