Residents of the three main towns on the Costa Tropical woke up to find that they are still governed by the same political parties.
In Almuñécar, the Mayor Juan Jose Ruiz Joya doubled the amount of council seats from six to twelve and can now govern with a comfortable majority.
In Salobreña, despite predictions, the PSOE looks to keep the mayoralty, despite a change of party leader at the helm. However, with five seats verses the PPs three, a coalition government would be the only answer but it could probably swing either way depending on how the other parties line up.
In Motril, the Mayor, Mª Luisa García Chamorro, obtained the most votes but will need the support of Antonio Escámez (CA) but she could also achieve it from David Martín (AXSI).
Torrenueva Costa maintains the same Mayor as does Gualchos/Castell de Ferro.
We will give a full report, including towns further inland, this afternoon.
