Miguel: yes, it’s the first time that another party has obtained more votes than him. Fermín from the IU dropped out as a candidate after the 2019 elections and his party companion, Paco Morgan, who had the only councillor seat for IU since 2019, didn’t run either.

Almuñécar Unida – PLG (Para La Gente) presented 21 candidates, 14 of which were independent candidates, meaning that only seven were original IU members. Of the top five names on the list, only two were IU (Nº1 candidate for mayor, Francisco Fernández Carmona) and Nº5.

The truth is that IU lost all credibility as a left-wing party after siding with the PP in two elections and then the vote to confirm Juan Jose Ruiz Joya as the substitute mayor when Trini Hernández left for Sevilla.

In the 2019 elections, IU had joined with Podemos under the combined name of Adelante with IU Paco Morgan as the Candidate for Mayor and Fermín Tejero as last on the list.

Thanks, Martin. So this is the first time Benavides has been defeated directly, right? Is Fermin the lone PLG seat?

Ruth: glad you do! People say that the “don’t do politics” but the truth is that “politics do us all,” as it shapes our lives, right down to whether our streets are re-tarmacked and how much IBI you pay on your property.

    Ruth: no problem

    El Valle
    PSOE-A: 3 Seats, 276 Votes (42.2%)
    PP: 2 Seats, 187 Votes (28.59%)
    A.I.VA: 1 Seat, 9 Votes (15.13%)
    VXV: 1 Seat, 77 Vores (11.77%)

PSOE Wins most votes but need the support of either the A.I.VA or VXV to govern. The PP needs both of their support to take the mayoralty

    Albuñuelas
    PP: 5 Seats, 298 vores (63.94%)
    PSOE-A: 2 Seats, 166 Votes (35.62%)

    Straight out PP win.

    El Pinar
    PP: 4 Seats, 243 Vores (52.25%)
    PSOE-A: 3 Seats, 167 Votes (35.91%)
    Adelante Andalucía: 0 Seats, 47 Votes (10.1%)

    Clear PP win.

    Lecrin
    PP: 6 Seats, 604 Votes (44.47%)
    PSOE-A: 3 Seats, 386 Vores (28.42%)
    UPL: 2 Seats, 293 Vores (21.57%)
    CS: 0 Seats, 68 Votes (5%)

PP most votes but PSOE could ally with UPL and take Mayoralty

As for Durcal, it’s included in the article above 😉

Miguel: somebody’s out there reading the election articles! The UA is the CA, it appears: CONVERGENCIA ANDALUZA – Unión Andalucista (UA).

Martin, would you please identify the parties. I have no idea who UA are. What happened to CA, Benavides’ party?
