Political Squabble over Aquarium

On the 19th of December the Mayor of Almuñécar, Trinidad Herrera, declared that the lease terms for the aquarium had been a “chollo,” meaning a bargain-cum-cushy number. The implication was that the Benavides administration had favoured the leaseholder, Aliart Engineering S.L. to a suspicious degree.

Town Hall Goes Back on Word?

Stallholders at the Almuñécar Municipal Market were stunned to be presented with a demand for fee payment on their stalls corresponding to November and January – the Town Hall had promised that they would not be charged.

Skeleton Found Above Otivar

A human skeleton has been discovered by a trekker in the mountains behind Otívar, Granada. The remains correspond to a 1.80m-tall male, dressed in sports clothes – no identity documents were found.

Almuñécar Aquarium Closed

The Councillor for the Environment, Luis Aragón, accompanied by other Town Council officials including the Chief of Local Police went to the Aquario to explain the situation. Also invited was Aliart Engineering S.L; i,e., the company that will be running the company once the new lease is sorted.

Unimpressive Bank Holiday

The early December, bank holiday, El puente de la Constitución, was not good for trade on the coast, but then again, it rarely is as it falls at the end of the Autumn rainy season.
