There was a sprinking of snow on the Costa Tropical on Thursday, both upon the Sierra de Lújar and in the Almijarras.
It’s been almost a couple of years since there has been snow on Peña Escrita (animal park) in the municipality of Almuñécar and perhaps longers since it has been on the Sierra de Lújar.

Not that long ago; i.e., a dozen or so more years, it snowed fleetingly on Salobreña beach whilst the lower slopes of the Conjuro (radar station) also sported a snow-covered summit.
On Thursday, the General Directorate for Traffic (DGT) issued a warning for the use of chains and the prohibition of the passage of lorries on the A-4050, better known as the Carretera de la Cabra, connecting Almuñécar with Suspiro del Moro and Granada,
These restrictions were between kilometers 15 and 30, which means that the Mesón Los Prados had a fair coating of snow..
As for rain, about 30 litres per square metre were recorded in the Velilla area, as well in the area of Río Seco causing it to rise and flow out to sea through San Cristóbal beach.
