Two vehicles collided on the A-7 autovía where it passes through the municipality of Motril yesterday while another car caught fire on the A-44.
The accident was called in at 11.50h and located next to kilometre point 893; one family car had turned over and the car immediately behind it had run into it.
Actually, at the moment, the Traffic Police are not clear whether the car turned over by itself and then was hit by the car behind, or the car behind had run into it making it over turn.
The 112 Call Centre despatched the Traffic Police, an ambulance and the Motril fire service. Fire personnel were required to cut out the occupants of the car that had turned over.
According to the Guardia Civil, one person was seriously injured and taken to Hospital Santa Ana.
Around that same time, a car caught fire on the A-44 autovía, more or less level with Dúrcal (KMP 155), causing tailbacks. Nobody was injured.

Is speed the key in many of these awful incidents? It’s a personal choice, but at the 120km limit. I travel at old-bloke rate of 100. 100 at 90. Etc. Fuel conservation and safety.
