The Provincial Public Prosecutor is recommending three years and three months imprisonment for apolice officer on forgery charges.
An officer from the Policia Nacional in Motril stands accused of falsifying a bill-of-purchase document for a Range Rover Evoque that had been stolen in Málaga in November 2015. The accused was intercepted in Motril Port, trying to board with the vehicle, a ferry bound for Melilla.
According to the Public Prosecutor, the officer was aware that the engine number had been manipulated and when confronted by the customs police over it, he produced a false, bill-of-purchase.
Consequently, the Internal Affairs Department for the Policía Nacional began an investigation which led to the discovery of a drugs network operating in Almería.
The accused faces charges of forgery and receiving stolen goods but the investigation did not link him to the drugs operation.
