The Policía Nacional have arrested a 19-year-old lad for his alleged involvement in an “express kidnapping;” which is holding someone for relatively small amounts of money, with the victim being released within hours or a couple of days maximum. Two other people have been arrested in connection with this incident in Motril.
A young lad had just ridden home on his motorbike when he was accosted by two individuals, who forced him to accompany them to premises in a poorer quarter of this coastal town. He was coerced through violent threats to sell his bike to a third party, with the proceeds of the sale going directly to his captors.
With this arrangement in mind, he was taken to a nearby house to sign over the vehicle but upon leaving the house he managed to shake his captors off and escape. He went immediately to the police and reported what had happened.
The two kidnappers were soon caught, with the third accomplice – the 19-year old – being arrested at the very end of last month. This individual has been linked to a mugging in the same quarter of the town, in which a large knife was used to obtain 2,500 euros and a laptop computer from the victim.
