Winter Cinema

It’s been around 30 years since los Salobreñeros lost their winter cinema – sure, in the summer, there are the open-air variety, (Cañaveral) but if you wanted to see a film in a cinema, you had to go to Almuñécar, Motril, or even El Ingenio in Vélez Málaga. Now that’s changed.

Penal Redemption

Otherwise-Inmates from the provincial prison of Albolote have been working around Salobreña, carrying out community work. The idea is that instead of going to prison, the person can repay his or her debt to society without having to actually serve time.

The Salobreña Town Hall has said ‘enough is enough’ over childrens’ sports freebies; one thing is to guarantee that the children of the town can enjoy good healthy sports and quite another that public funds are being spent so that their tracksuits can be dry-cleaned. The Parkinson’s Association for Granada, which has been operating for 13 years, will provide advice and answer questions, in Salobreña and other coastal towns of Granada.

Crackdown on Rubbish

The Salobreña Town Hall has sent out ultimatums to 30 owners of empty building plots and/or derelict buildings around the town. The message is clear: you tidy them up, or we will, and then we’ll send you the bill.
