The private company that has provided the decorative street lighting each Christmas has decided to provide the same this year, for no charge, as the town can’t afford this expense.

The Mayor had already made up his mind to forego the Christmas lighting and used the money instead to pay off some of the money that is owed to small, struggling businesses, so this generous move came as a welcome surprise.

Thanks to this demonstration of Christmas spirit, the main streets in Salobreña will have their seasonal decoration, amongst them Avenida Federico Garcia Lorca, which is the main shopping street.

The Mayor, Gonzalo Fernández Pulido, has called upon all Salobreñeros to make what contribution that they can, to give the town a suitably festive appearance.

The lights are being installed now and will be switched on from the 20th to the 6th of January.
