False Theft Accusation

A car theft was reported to the Guardia Civil Office in Salobreña on Saturday 21st. After several investigations, the Guardia Civil found out tha the vehicle had not been stolen but had suffered an accident and had crashed when the owner at the wheel, allegedly under the influence.

Salobreña Takes Out Another Loan

The Salobreña Town Hall has approved taking another multi-million euro loan, this time for 2.8m. With the said funds to pay off local debts and for the Town Hall to be able to ‘function.’
The Mayor insists that the operation is not ‘a whim’, as under existing legislation town halls are obligated to terminate loan policies before the 31st of December. Having paid off the existing ones, they now need funds to operate.

San Silvestre Race

Salobreña held its first San Silvestre Race, which was carried out in full festive spirit with runners wearing Santa hats, etc. The idea was to circulate a bit of foot-borne colour through the town’s streets.

Three Streets in Lobres Tarmacked

Thanks to the efforts of the Salobreña Town Hall, three streets within the municipal annex of Lobres were included within a push by the Provincial Council to improve street surfacing. The result is that without having delve into the famished municipal coffers, Calle Poco Trigo, Calle Jazmín and Calle Juan Pablo II now sport a thick black carpet of new tarmac.
