Thanks to a volunteer group called Hecho en Salobreña (Made in Salobreña) the area of the municipality known as El Gambullón has been rescued from neglect. This area, which is down in the vega, is a pretty emblematic area for locals.

With the idea of rescuing it from total abandonment, Hecho en Salobreña proposed doing something about it to the Town Hall, offering the manpower.

Volunteers had to wade through chilling water and undergrowth to clear out the accumulated rubbish and litter, as people had almost used it as a rubbish dump, unfortunately. The volunteers, consisted of adults and children, as well as a group of artists that put a bit of pictorial decoration on the old pump house. Go and take a shufty!
