A-7 Creeps Forward

Just after we announce that the A-7 wasn’t going anywhere fast, the Government announced that it had finally awarded a construction contract for the termination of the Gorgoracha-Puntalón section of the A-7, Autovía del Mediterraneo.

Salobreña shows all the signs of having it very clear that if you want to come to Salobreña to spend your holidays, then it is a certainty that you are going to come by car, which is why the town goes out of its way to make sure you can find somewhere to park… and no blue zones, even in the height of summer.

No new stretch of the A-7 coastal autovia has been inaugurated since July 2009, despite repeated promises to the contrary. This summer will be no different from the last one in that respect.

Royal Guards Regiment on Manoeuvres in Salobreña

Locals of and visitors to Salobreña will have seen quite a bit of military camouflage around the town lately and that is because the Spanish Royal Guards Regiment has taken up residence in the municipal sports hall. But you can relax; it’s not a military coup – again – but part of a combination of PR and military training, as each year a different province around Spain is chosen.

Thank God For Neighbours

A resident in the Matagallares area of Salobreña was suspicious of a young couple that were taking ‘too much interest’ in his neighbour’s cortijo, so he phone him. Alerted, the owner phoned the Guardia Civil at 23.30h to say that he was on his way out to his cortijo and that it would be jolly nice if they pop round, too.
