Thank God For Neighbours

A resident in the Matagallares area of Salobreña was suspicious of a young couple that were taking ‘too much interest’ in his neighbour’s cortijo, so he phoned him. Alerted, the owner phoned the Guardia Civil at 23.30h to say that he was on his way out to his cortijo and that it would be jolly nice if they pop round, too.

The result was the arrest of the said couple, who are in their early 30’s, which is hardly surprising as by the time the Guardia had arrived the industrious two had already ripped up the corrugated roof and made a nice neat pile of items of ‘interest.’ Upon seeing the Green Meanies bearing down on them, they tried to hide amongst the trees and undergrowth, which isn’t recommended as it tends to annoy Guardia Civil policemen.

According to the policeman, one suspect violently resisted arrest, even managing smash the rear window of the patrol car – it wasn’t mentioned if he wantonly did this with his nose…
