Now That The Summer’s Over

…The La Herradura maintenance crews are out, continuing with the task of renovating the pavement along the Paseo de Andrés Segovia. Work recommenced in front of the Hombre del Mar monument.

Railings Replaced

The Nerja Councillor for Beaches, Sandra Jimena, has stated that the first phase of the work to replace the railings along the Paseo Marítimo next to Plaza de los Cangrejos has been completed. Well, they’ve decided on the design of the official poster for the 450th Anniversary of the 1562 Shipwreck… actually, it would be more accurate to say ‘fleetwreck.’

Unwanted Wooden Paseo

The Town Hall has submitted a request to Costas (national coastal authority) for the dismantling and removal of the wooden square, which is all that remains of the pier and promenade that once adorned the Paseo Andrés Segovia.

Paseo del Altillo Leaks

There appears to be a problem with the waterproofing of the Paseo del Altillo, which is letting water filter through into the bars on the lower paseo. Unfortunately, this is not a recent occurrence as since the paseo was finished in 2006, some of these businesses have been dogged by damp.

Green Women Against Tree Felling

The Almuñécar-based women’s ecologist group, La Asociación de Mujeres Ecologistas Sexitanas, has denounced what they claim to be “extreme tree Felling” on the Paseo del Altillo gardens. They say that around a dozen emblematic trees were cut down from at base level, especially ‘ficus’ (rubber-plant trees) near the car-park entrance. They consider that these trees had formed a fundamental part of the panorama.

Face Lift for Paseo

Work on the Paseo Andrés Segovia has just finished in time for the start of the international classical guitar competition, which is being held in the Civic Centre.
