Shipwreck Poster Chosen

Well, they’ve decided on the design of the official poster for the 450th Anniversary of the 1562 Shipwreck… actually, it would be more accurate to say ‘fleetwreck.’

“The entry made by the winner clearly reflects the spirit of the 450th Anniversary and is historic transcendence, in which 5,000 people died, causing a serious set back for plans of Felipe II in 1562,” says the village’s First Councillor, Sr Ruiz Joya.

The designer of the winning poster is Pilar Esteban Ordorica, whose entry was entitled, “Always Alive in our Memory,” which is just a tad optimistic and one can be pretty certain that the Lass in question can’t name one of the 5,000 sailors and soldiers lost, of less than noble rank, but ‘artist licence’ is artistic licence.’

Anyway, sincere congratulations, Ms Esteban Ordorica, and may the 500 euros prize money always be alive in your bank account.

The actual anniversary will be held of the 19th of October, which you needn’t worry about jotting down somewhere, of course, as it will be eternally alive in your memory.
