First Councillor for La Herradura, Ruiz Joya, explained that the work consisted of widening of the foot path, improvement to street lighting in the form of double-lamp fittings, and the restoring of a disused public spring-water tap on the Plaza las Palmeras.
Furthermore, public benches that had been in the gardens of the Castillo were re-situated on the paseo, as the councillor considered that there had been too many there. And to the delight of many, orange-tree samplings from the municipal plant nursery were planted.
As a finishing touch a marble plaque was fitted in honour of Andrés Segovia.
Locals will also notice that access has been improved with the modification of the kerbs, and that a flower bed that hampered access to Acera del Pilar from the beach for lorries and buses has been eliminated.
