The A-7 & N-340

No new stretch of the A-7 coastal autovia has been inaugurated since July 2009, despite repeated promises to the contrary. This summer will be no different from the last one in that respect.

Colliding Lorries and Road Works

Anybody that drove between Salobreña and Almuñécar yesterday will have noticed two things: a tail back owing to an accident involving two lorries, near El Barranco Enmedio, and the impressive amount of earth moving going on to stabilize the N-340 below Urbanisación Alfa Mar.

N-340 Improvements

Anybody travelling between La Herradura and Almuñecar will have noted road workers laying tarmac and other improvements.
The other improvements in question being stabilization work, which can be seen going on below the road, beside the main junction – there has been a boring machine that has been sinking horizontal piles to stabilize the road bank.

Punta Access Road Finished

visitors to and residence of the Marina del Este on the Punta de la Mona can now use the main access road from the N-340 without fear of falling into a pit now that roadworks have concluded.

Sad New Record

Perhaps the classic AC/DC number can best sum up where the A-7 peters out into the N-340… Highway to Hell.

Horse Causes Road Accident

Three members of a family; two men and their mother, were injured when their van collided with a horse on the N-340 between Motril and Torrenueva. The animal had escaped from a field near Motril. It took seven hours before the animal, which was in agony, was put down.

(Regional News) A police helicopter captured a biker on camera who managed to knock up 19 driving infractions in only four minutes! Hey, gotta say, Guys, that my Mary would knock up 19 driving infractions before she even got the car out of the garage, which would take about four hours, admittedly, but that’s a different story.
