I popped in to see Miguel, the owner of both Más Que Tapas in town and Restaurante Reina Sofia, which has long since been an Almuñécar dining favourite.
A message from Margarit at Meson El Gallinero in La Herradura:
If you drive up the Otívar mountain road (La Cabra), once you get to the top and level out, you can’t miss Mesón Los Prados.
Alex at the fabulous Meson in the town hall square, Almuñécar tells me he is now offering a menu del dia consisting of a choice of 2 starters, a choice of 2 mains, dessert, one drink and coffee, all at just €9.50 with IVA included.
The Meson in the town hall square in Almuñécar is just great. If you haven’t tried one of their brochetas, you haven’t lived! I didn’t realise that they even made metal spikes that long, except for fighting, and that you could fit so much tasty food onto just one! Don’t go thinking I’m talking about a simple pinchito here.
Of course I’d had a few lovely rations of food in Meson, in the town-hall square in Almuñécar, but I recently tried their evening menu, and plumped for the Brocheta (skewered meat), and was quite disappointed when I realised it meant just the one skewer…
Accompanying the Ed to Mari y Miguel turned out to be a real treat. Expecting just a tapa or two with our beers, we were so impressed with the meat dish we sampled that we ended up getting a whole ration!
