Almuñécar Burglar Arrested

There has been an arrest in Almuñécar in connection with a series of break-ins carried out in bars, restaurants, etc between September last year and January.

ALM Guardia Civil GenericThe Guardia Civil through its police operation Cantinas arrested a 35-year-old man with a criminal record, suspected of being behind at least seven, early-morning burglaries.

To gain entrance to these establishments he reportedly smashed windows and once inside looked for cash mainly.

Counting on the collaboration of the Policía Local, the Guardia Civil made the arrest on the 22nd of this month

The police noted that all the break-ins followed the same modus operandi and concluded that they were all the fruit of the same person or persons. Once an individual was identified, they requested back up from the Policía Local in order to carry out the arrest.

However, on the 22nd the Policía Local received a call to say that there was a break-in underway in a mesón in town. Knowing that the Guardia Civil were already watching one suspect they alerted the local Guardia post about what was unfolding so that both police forces could send out patrols to comb the area to track down the burglar – this was in the early hours of the morning.

After covering several streets the police came across the suspect with the necessary tools to break into a building.
