Wave Goodbye

Even with all the economic woes being faced in Portugal, there is a non-financial story that has pushed its way to the fore and become the big talking point for the population.
It centers around Portugal’s Olympic committee which has banned a female windsurfer for life. Her ‘crime’? Concealing the fact that she was pregnant, so that she was able to travel with the team to the London Olympics and be with her husband.

Motril’s Blue Zones

The chief opposition spokesperson, socialist, Flor Álmon, claims that the Town Hall could be losing up to 350,000 euros a year through bad management of the Blue Zones.

Going or Staying?

Quite a rumpus ensued after the Asociación de Encajeras Virgen de la Cabeza allegedly received its marching orders from the Motril Town Hall, informing them that they had to vacate their premises in the Motril municipal Market.

My Tailor is Rich

Francisco Camps, the handsome, suave ex-president of Valencia, resigned a few months ago from office in order to face down charges that he had accepted several expensive suits as gifts. In turn, one supposes, the free suits guaranteed someone or someone’s certain favourable treatment.

Controversial Pensioners’ Complex

When the present Mayor of Salobreña was still in opposition, one of his chief criticisms against the then PP Mayor was about the Pensioners’ Home, so it is no surprise that it is at the top of his ‘to do’ list now that he is mayor.

Carchuna Not Chuffed

The idea of opening up the beach road to 2-way traffic was supposed to be an apaño (temporary fix) to the problem caused by the new paseo wall – in that aspect, it has obviously failed.
