Football Derby Controversy

(JOA) The first ever El Clasico del Almunecar was abandoned after 65 minutes on Saturday night. I have been fortunate enough to report on many football matches in my time as a football writer, but this game can only be classed as unique.

(WNS) CD Almuñécar City ran out 4-1 winners tonight in the semi-final of the Costa Tropical Cup in La Herradura (CD Almuñécar City are playing their home games in La Herradura until the surface has been sorted in Almuñécar) against Los Molinos. But the game was somewhat marred by the behavior of the Los Molinos coaching team.

Calle Real U-Turn

The Almuñécar Town Hall has bowed to citizen pressure and has modified the Calle Real project in La Herradura. The controversial ramp will be shortened and parking space will be returned.

Wave Goodbye

Even with all the economic woes being faced in Portugal, there is a non-financial story that has pushed its way to the fore and become the big talking point for the population.
It centers around Portugal’s Olympic committee which has banned a female windsurfer for life. Her ‘crime’? Concealing the fact that she was pregnant, so that she was able to travel with the team to the London Olympics and be with her husband.

Motril’s Blue Zones

The chief opposition spokesperson, socialist, Flor Álmon, claims that the Town Hall could be losing up to 350,000 euros a year through bad management of the Blue Zones.

Going or Staying?

Quite a rumpus ensued after the Asociación de Encajeras Virgen de la Cabeza allegedly received its marching orders from the Motril Town Hall, informing them that they had to vacate their premises in the Motril municipal Market.
