Going or Staying?

Quite a rumpus ensued after the Asociación de Encajeras Virgen de la Cabeza allegedly received its marching orders from the Motril Town Hall, informing them that they had to vacate their premises in the Motril municipal Market. An article was published in Granada Hoy, written by Rosa Fernández to this effect, which did not please Councillor for Equal Opportunities, Inmaculada Torres.

The Councillor issued a subsequent press release, pointing out that it was the Town Hall who had decided to help the Bolillos ladies (lace makers) by making an arrangement with the Municipal Market department, who ceded an empty market stall. However, says the Councillor, since then the Matraquilla Centro Cívico has been opened so it was decided to move the Talleres de Bolillos there, thus freeing up the market stalls for what they were originally intended.

In the meantime, Rosa Fernández has issued the following statement: “In relation to the said press release, I am able to confirm that the Chairwoman of the Asociación de Encajeras Virgen de la Cabeza has ratified that all that appeared in the original article is rigorously true. Jutta Müller, who has a stall in the said market and organises lace-making courses considers that the article reflects her opinion, too.”

The original report basically promotes the lace-making classes that were to be held in the said market stalls, come September. The idea is that Jutta, who speaks English, German and Spanish, and who has her own stall there, would combine the lace-making courses with a little language learning. With the loss of the Bolillos market stall, Jutta has offered the small upper terrace in front of her bio-products stall, so they will go ahead, every Monday between 10.00h and 11.00h as planned.

Well, whatever comes of it, the lace-makers or Asociación de Encajeras, has certainly got some publicity from it all.
