Poachers and Public Transport

The whole point of poaching is to hunt undetected; to avoid being seen, so you would think that travelling on a bus with 140 dead birds was a touch conspicuous. Well, one 31-year-old man from Arjonilla, Jaén, didn’t think so.

Shoplifting Priest

A priest in the province of Cádiz was caught shoplifting and fined 800 euros. The man, a vicar at the Catedral Vieja de Cádiz, had been caught red handed with top-brand clothing concealed in his briefcase.

Expensive Foreigners

The Andalusian health service, SAS, spent two million euros treating foreigners, either residents or tourists, during 2010 in Granada alone. Mind you, they passed it on to the private insurance companies or the countries of origin of these patients.

Looking for Trouble…

A young girl made the mistake of recriminating a 40-year-old man for spitting on the ground outside a discotheque in Antonio Millón in Nerja. His response was to walk up to her and spit in her face, but it didn’t stop there.

Poppy Appeal Final Count

The Nerja Branch of the Royal British Legion has now finished counting the contents of 45 poppy, collection boxes that have been in place in various bars and restaurants in and around Nerja. The amount raised is in excess of €2,000.

Paternal Last Act

Firemen from Baena managed to rescue a 3-year-old boy from a crashed car, whose father managed to comfort moments before dying. The child only had a cut to his forehead – the father died soon after the impact.
