Miguel has created a first class venue, beautifully styled and serving superb, original international cuisine, and this combination has made this restaurant into one of those rare places where the customers are divided equally into Spanish and international clientele.
La Ventura
by David Darby •
Just two minutes from the beach, this restaurant delivers on all fronts. The place itself would be worth a visit, even without the food, and it is just as beautiful now as it was when I used to partake of a drink or two there, nearly 30 years ago.
Meson Mari y Miguel
by David Darby •
Accompanying the Ed to Mari y Miguel turned out to be a real treat. Expecting just a tapa or two with our beers, we were so impressed with the meat dish we sampled that we ended up getting a whole ration!
Los Laureles
by David Darby •
If you visit the Almuñécar area, and don’t eat at Los Laureles at least once, then you should seriously consider a visit to the old ‘head doctor’ when you get home, because you’d have to be mad not to eat there!
Yerba Buena
by David Darby •
Here are a few pointers on places to eat in and around Almuñécar… firstly, try taking your hunger pains to La Yerba Buena, in Avenida de Europa, just up from the Majuelo Park.
Wedding Bells
by David Darby •
Our last bit of good news is the recent marriage of Dave (Dangerous) Dye to his lovely fianceé Oxana.
Birthday Boy
by David Darby •
Firstly, it was a real pleasure to cover the story of Elliot’s first birthday party on the beach in front of The Anchor.
Rambla Roundabout
by David Darby •
Talking of road related stories… the work continues at the top of Rambla del Espinar, where there have now covered the top of the Rambla with concrete and have even started laying the kerbing stones, which look like they will mark the entrance to the roundabout.
Peugeot Playa Peril
by David Darby •
A young driver nearly caused a disaster after leaving his car without first applying the handbrake at the Peña Parda end of the bay. It didn’t help that the hapless young chap also left the vehicle in neutral.
A short time after the driver wandered off, the Peugeot 206 started its driverless jaunt down the beach towards the sea.
Hugging Mugging
by David Darby •
Talking of people up to no good, has anyone ever heard the expression ‘hugging mugging’? It was new to me as well, but apparently, a chap catches your eye, then approaches with a big grin and arms open wide, and claims to be a long lost friend. Then, making his apologies for mistaking you for someone else shoots off on a moped. Then you find that you have been relieved of your wallet/purse.
