There’s always a nice friendly buzz about The Hideaway, and if you are visiting the area it really should be one of your regular haunts. Why? Well, because Jenette and her team do cracking breakfasts, snacks, lunches and afternoon teas.
Add to that their summer drinks special of a house spirit and mixer for just €2.80 and a pint of beer for €2.50, it makes sense!
They have Sky Sports coverage on widescreen TV so you don’t miss any of the new season footie updates.
Mirador de Cerro Gordo
by David Darby •
Now moving on to La Herradura, what is the best thing about Mirador de Cerro Gordo? Is it the location, the food or just how good the team working there is? Well the location can only be described as stunning, and I do not use that word lightly. Of course, I mustn’t overstate things, to ensure fair play amongst all the restaurants in the area, but if there is a better location to enjoy truly excellent food, than sitting in the Mirador de Cerro Gordo at sunset, then I have yet to find it.
El Faro
by David Darby •
Sometimes, when you’re on holiday, you get the urge for a taste of home… luckily in Plaza de los Magnolios in Almuñécar, you’ll find just that.
El Faro has been bringing some typical British cuisine to the Costa for quite some time now, and it’s to their credit they even have quite a big Spanish following, which includes the Eds girlfriend Mari, who totally sold on a British, Sunday Roast when she tried one there.
Tito Yayo
by David Darby •
If you go down to the beach today, you’re sure of a tasty treat! And what a beach it is. Playa Cabria, Taramay just outside Almuñécar is a treat in itself, but the actually be able to eat there just makes all the more special.
La Trattoria
by David Darby •
In a little square, right in the middle of Almuñécar, La Trattoria, is like a hidden treasure. The reason this restaurant/pizzeria survives is because people know a good thing when they find it, and return again and again.
Mesón
by David Darby •
Of course I’d had a few lovely rations of food in Meson, in the town-hall square in Almuñécar, but I recently tried their evening menu, and plumped for the Brocheta (skewered meat), and was quite disappointed when I realised it meant just the one skewer…
El Árbol Blanco
by David Darby •
Back to the top of Avenida Costa Del Sol now with those talented brothers Jorge and Nacho, who have made this most popular of restaurants a must on the Spanish, as well as visitor s’ list of places to go.
You can enjoy a fantastic range of brilliantly prepared Mediterranean cuisine, either on the cool terrace, inside or even an intimate table for two in the upstairs dining area.
Iguana Playa
by David Darby •
Table with a view sir? Well, that’s the only type of table you get when you dine on the terrace at Iguana Playa. Situated at the far end of El Pozuelo Beach in Taramay, Almuñécar, it truly is a stunning location.
Khan
by David Darby •
It is difficult to pass on to readers, which are the best of the dishes available, as we have enjoyed everything from delicious mild Kormas, tasty Tikkas and lovely spicy Masalas, through to a very hot Phal after which it was scientifically possible to fry an egg on my left buttock!
Pin-Ball
by David Darby •
If, like me, you enjoy finding a bit of shade during the summer, but still want to watch the world go by, do what I do and pay a visit to Café-Bar Pin-Ball, on under the Paseo del Altillo in Almuñécar. With its huge terrace, with seaviews in both shade and sun.
