Officers belonging to the Policía Municipal in Madrid found a 2-month-old baby, dehydrated and covered in its own excrement.

This discovery was made at around 08.15h yesterday after somebody phoned in to say that there were the sounds of a violent argument coming from a flat in the Tetuán area of the city. A squad car was despatched to investigate.

After knocking on the door, a woman in a state of inebration answered. The went inside and found the flat to be in filthy conditions, full of rubbish, with dog excrement on the floor and even cockroaches inside the fridge.

In one of the bedrooms was a man lying on a bed, incapable of articulating any speech because of the drugs he had administered himself. In the same room was the baby.

As well as being dehydrated and covered in its own excrement, it was also running a high temperature. The baby was also found to have traces of cocaine in its bloody – it appears the mother breast fed the child whilst she was drunk and high on drugs.

Both parents were immediately arrested; the father, of Colombian origin, born in 1987 and the mother, Bolivian, born in 1996. The baby was taken to Hospital de La Paz for a check-up and will remain in care.

The officers also took charge of the dog which was in a lamentable state as well.

Editorial comment: OK, I am going to go full Attila the Hun here and propose that both parents by sterilised – they don’t deserve to be in charge of children.
