Spain & Israel

Israeli PM, Benjamin Netanyahu, announced yesterday the expulsion of Spanish representatives from the Civic-Military Coordination Centre (CMCC) in Gaza.

This entity oversees the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip but Netanyahu says it is because of the “hostile” and “anti-Israeli” stance of Pedro Sánchez’s government. “Tel Aviv does not consider states that attack Israel instead of confronting terrorist regimes as partners” her said.

Netanyahu went on, “I am not prepared to tolerate this hypocrisy and hostility,” he warned, saying that his government will not allow any country to “declare a diplomatic war” against Israel “without paying an immediate price.”

Warming to the task, he criticised Spanish leaders for “slandering our heroes, the soldiers of the Israel Defense Forces, the most moral army in the world.

His ultra-conservative Foreign Minister, Gideon Saar said, “The Sánchez government has such a blatant anti-Israel bias that it has lost any ability to be a useful actor in the implementation of President Trump’s peace plan and in the CMCC.”

In response, Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares described these statements as “absurd and slanderous.” He pointed out that Spain has condemned human rights violations by Iran and accused Israel of “trying to derail” negotiations between Washington and Tehran to end the war.

Pedro Sánchez maintained his stance and again urged European Union members to suspend the association agreement with Israel due to “flagrant violations of international humanitarian law.” The EU has already clarified that there is no unanimity to adopt such a measure.

During PM Sánchez’s speech at the European Pulse Forum in Barcelona, he argued that Europe cannot “allow a new Gaza in Lebanon.” At that event, he avoided referring directly to Netanyahu and did not mention the CMCC veto.

This comes just after the Spanish Government’s announcement to reopen its embassy in Iran following a 15-day ceasefire agreement, and after the detention of a Spanish peacekeeper belonging to the UN deployment in Lebanon.

Editorial comment: Netanyahu has forgotten that this is Spain, and not the US, whom he can cower through the AIPAC. The genocide carried out by the IDF in Gaza and the state-backed terrorism on the West Bank by zionist settlers is absolutely disgusting and I personally approve Sánchez’s standing up to Trump and Netanyahu. It’s about time other European leaders had the testicular fortitude to do the same.

How quickly it is forgotten that Israel was founded on zionist terrorism, placing bombs in crowded markets, in cinema, on buses, and not forgetting the bombing of the King David Hotel, nor the fact that the first Israel president was a convicted terrorist.

Israel is in no position to criticise others over terrorism.

Whilst Israel denies human, civil and political rights to Palestinians it does not
“have a right to exist” It is a racist and apartheid state as confirmed by the new
law to execute Palestinians charged with murder without due legal process.
The same new law does not apply to Jewish Israelis who are charged with murder.
The time has come for countries to place economic and arms sanctions against Israel.

Thanks, Shiner, for your correction, I should have said one of their first PMs was a convicted terrorists; Yitzhak Shamir, who also wanted to ally with Nazi Germany during WW2 but couldn’t get their support.

He was also responsible for the Deir Yassin massacre, where over a hundred Arabs were killed, causing thousands to flee and which sparked off the first Arab-Israeli War in 1948.

Another PM who was a convicted terrorist was Menachem Begin who was responsible for the King David Hotel terrorist attack. A British Sergeant who survive the bomb explosion identified Yitzhak Shamir as one of the terrorists involved. Unfortunately, the witness was later tracked down and murdered by other members of Shamir’s Stern Gang.

Martin, was Chaiz Weisman not the first President of Israel, a famous Chemist? Yes he was a Zionist, but was never convicted of any crime. Many believe that the people you call terrorists in the early pre-Israel days were in fact freedom fighters fighting for their own Country and survival. I always struggle to understand how anyone can support Countries who harbour and support current terrorists. Action taken against todays terrorists may be harsh in some peoples opinions, but I suggest it needs to be done. I wish we all lived in a peaceful world, but sadly we dont.

I absolutely agree with Martin concerning the behaviour of Israel and the failure of the EU and other countries to stand up against the Zionists. Spain and other countries should end all trade with Israel including the closure of airspace to all Israeli flights, and barring shipping from their waters and ports.
