Granada Airport has announced that from May the 5th until May the 27, 2027, there will be no flights in and out of the airport.
This is because they will be working on the runways, resurfacing them.

This was a major shock for Granada City Council. Whilst they acknowledge that the work is necessary, they want to study an alternative plan to avoid the province becoming literally disconnected from air travel.
City Hall Spokesman, Jorge Saavedra express their considerable concern regarding the project. He pointed out that they are “unaware of similar precedents in comparable cities” and claimed it would be “very difficult to see something similar” happening at airports in Malaga, Seville, Madrid, or Barcelona.
This announced closure that will last 22 days comes on top of the airport’s difficulties obtaining more flight connections, especially international ones.

Hmmm, let me see. The airport wants to increase the amount of passengers and routes. Granada want it to be increased for business and tourism. Yet instead of closing say in March or April. They choose May. Real start to the summer
season. Maybe a weather issue. But it does little to sell the concept of flights to , let’s call it Santa Fe. Almost Granada.
