The Guardia Civil found themselves having to shoot three bulls that were running amok through village streets during a bull-fighting event.
The incident occurred in Cortes y Graena (near Baza). The bulls were chased down a fenced-off route through the village but one of the animals smashed through a barricade and two others followed.
The bulls caught three farmers and one of them required hospitalising. Luckily one of the officers managed to apply a torniquette to stop the bleeding until the ambulance arrived.
A baker was delivering his wares when a bull charged his van, explained the Mayor, Fabiola Romero Hernández.
The bulls, in the meantime, had abandoned the village and headed to the nearby village of Lopera, wandering along the road to Peza. It was at this point that the Guardia Civil caught up with two of them and shot them dead.
The third bull had taken a different direction and was heading for Purullena and by four in the afternoon the officers had caught up with it and killed it, too.
Mayor Fabiola Romero Hernández explained that the rest of the bullfighting event had to be postponed because they had run out of bulls. They have since managed to find more bulls to kill in the ring for today at 18.30h

I appreciate it’s part of the spanish culture but it leaves me cold as do other similar so called sports…. hopefully it will continue to be less popular along with jet skiing
Patrick: some claim it’s an art form, well if it is, then it’s an art form when the bull wins, too. I have no sympathy for idiots who get gored chasing bulls down streets or trying to skewer them in the ring.
Blooming shame about the Bulls, but quicker, I guess, than being terrorised and slowly murdered in a bull ring. At least they had a short period of freedom. May not go down to well here in Spain but I think it’s akin to dog fighting. Hare coursing and bear bating. Should be banned.
