Lorry Stuck on Roundabout

An articulated lorry became stuck on a roundabout in Motril yesterday morning causing quite a hold up on the Avenida de Salobreña thoroughfare.

MOT Lorry Stuck on Roundabout JN23According to the Policía Local, who had to sort it out, the lorry was far to big/heavy to attempt to cut through the town. The maximum weight for goods vehicles is 16 tonnes in that part of town.

If it were not enough that the lorry was too long to get round the Mondera roundabout (that’s the one with the statue of a woman sugarcane field worker), it also developed problems with its gear box.

Traffic leaving Motril along the Avenida de Salobreña had to be redirected along Avenida Marquesa de Esquilache.

One resident told us that the problem was solved before two in the afternoon, which was when she finished work. We phoned the Motril Policía Local for more information but the officer on duty was completely unhelpful, sorry.

Rules! What are they? Isn’t that an almost empty dam? I guess the lovely tree growing over the road didn’t help.
